Westcott Autumn Show 2027

Grow Make BakeGrow Make Bake: the Westcott Autumn Show 2027
Saturday 11 September · Westcott Village Hall · open from 2.30pm

Dahlias, chrysanthemums and the best of the autumn harvest, plus crafts, photography and home baking. Dahlias have been part of Westcott’s autumn since the village’s very first show in October 1857, when a “fine nosegay of dahlias” caught the local reporter’s eye. From 1901 the village even held a Dahlia Show of its own, and in 1907 it was held in Brooklands Meadow, at the old home of the 1857 society’s secretary, Charles March. Today the Autumn Show carries on that tradition.

It’s free to exhibit and open to all. Come and have a go, or just come and look.

How to enter

Anyone can exhibit. You don’t have to be a member, though you’ll need to have been one for three months to take home a trophy. It’s free to enter.

Non-exhibiting visitors pay 50p to get in, and under-16s get in free. There’s a lot of lovely cake.

Bring your entries on the morning of the show, between 8.30 and 11am. Village Hall doors open to visitors at 2.30pm, and the prize-giving and raffle are at 4pm.

First time? Try the novice classes, and you could win the Jill Flower Novice Cup. Children aged 9 and under have their own classes and can enter everything else too.

A few fair-play rules

Anything in the Grow classes must be grown by you. Anything in the Make classes must be your own work, made in the last 12 months. And the judges’ decision is final, as it has been since 1901.

The full schedule for the show will be available to download in February 2027. Online entry will also be made available.
